Jack of Diamonds – Hamilton plays a cat burglar who pillages gems from Baker, Gabor, and Palmer, who are “special guests” in this film. Avoid this one and wait for “To Catch a Robber” to be shown. The Manchurian Candidate – A contemporary day rendering of the 1962 movie. Decorated war hero Raymond Shaw is now in place to become the Vice President of the US. Sawdust and Tinsel – Kindles soar in this beautiful, metaphorical film set in a small-time carnival and concentrating on the relation between carnival owner Gronberg and his oversexed mistress (Andersson). Down to You – Prinze and Stiles ineffectually try to buddy us up by talking directly into the camcorder, expounding how their once pleasant college romance went bust (albeit not as bust as the film). In someway, this movie manages to find room for subplots in reference to a TV show and a friend who has a try as an adult-film entrepreneur with a sort of bohemian familiar porn actress. Cast includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Julia Stiles, Shawn Hatosy, Selma Blair, Zak Orth, Ashton Kutcher, Rosario Dawson, Henry Winkler, and Lucie Amaz. (91 minutes, 2000)
Scream 3 – As the title implies this is the third motion picture in the Scream series. Sydney has run away to Northern California, and is in hiding. Back in L.A. they are filming a film about Sydney’s life. When there are a series of murders on the set of the motion picture, Sydney must return to L.A. and help the cops locate the murderer.
Danny Boy – Ambitious although arrogant, inexorably boring melodrama of sax player Rea, who trades his sax for a gun after observing a triple killing. This was Jordan’s directorial debut, which he additionally did the screenplay. He and leading guy Rea later reteamed for The Weeping Game. (92 minutes, 1982)
The General – One of Keaton’s best silent motion pictures, setting comedy different to real Civil Battle tale of a stolen train, and Union spies. Not as fanciful as other Keaton films, though beautifully finished. Cast includes Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, Glen Cavender, Jim Farley, and Joseph Keaton. (100 minutes, 1984)
