American Idol Step 3 of 10 To Increase Your Chances Of Getting On The Show
Step three in increasing the odds of you getting on any vocal reality show should be that you should consider getting in shape or working out.
Not every Idol winner is a super thin model and you don’t have to be either. But, hitting the gym couldn’t hurt anyone if you do the right workout A well-designed body will also help you to have a sound mind. Take vitamins additionally.
Your voice is a muscle. You need to take care of it. You may want to be singing at least one to two hours a day: exercising your vocal chords and strengthening them. I’m talking about really allocating the time to properly sing and rehearse everyday for what may be the most telling opportunities of your life. So, take it seriously. Proper posture and technique are essential if you want to excel. Sitting in your car and singing isn’t the best way to develop your technique and style.
If your vocal chords can’t handle it and you can’t sing a couple hours a day, then you should sing 30 minutes a day for one week, then the following week increase it up to 1 hour everyday, then the next week bump it up to 1 1/2 hours and so on. The stronger your vocal chords the less likely that your chords will get fatigued. I’m sure you’ve heard this before but practice makes perfect. At my peak vocal capabilities I could sing a straight 7-8 hours without becoming fatigued. But, I knew what I was doing and didn’t burn myself out with improper vocal techniques.
Once you ehance your stamina, then another exercise you can do is to go for a slow jog. When you are jogging or working out, try singing at the same time. It is very difficult to do. It will help you get your wind up and also teach you to how move around and sing at the same time. You’ll need to be capable of this.
In our next step, step 4, we’ll discuss vocal coaching and vocal training plus more!

Do you need a backstory to get on American Idol?
Do you need a backstory to get on American Idol? Increasing your chances of securing your spot on each vocal reality show needs to be a carefully crafted endeavor. Just being able to sing well is a menial portion of what you really should consider when auditioning for American Idol, X-Factor, America’s Got Talent, The Voice or any other vocal reality show.
In the next article in a series of ten I hope to provide some helpful insight that many may not have thought of or would even know.
Let’s begin to explore the back story angle. You should either have a well-crafted back story or you really just need to tell the truth. I often advise being honest as, sometimes, factuality is more interesting than fiction. However, it is not uncommon for contestants to develop a back story. You may want to discuss an angle with trusted individuals or confidants because you may well be underestimating interesting accounts about yourself that you may not consider to be charming. So, consider it with your friends, family and others trusted by you. Get their feedback. Sometimes just a minimal spin on your background might make a big difference in others thinking you interesting. And, let’s face it. In the world we live in today, people embrace an interesting back story.
If you adhere closely to the truth then you’ll have an easier time talking about yourself when you participate in interviews or you go to that all important, potentially life changing audition. Bloggers and writers want more information than you would believe. Your singing talent alone will not make for good press.
For example, maybe you overcame a life threatening illness or had some type of surgery as a adolescent. You could use your experience of defeating a disease to have more content to discuss with interested parties. Also, organizations that try to bring attention to their cause might also contact you to get your insight which, ultimately, achieves three things; gives you a new platform to get your story to the world, gives you more credibility, and also raises awareness for others that may be in the situation you were in. So, you become an inspiration and achieve more believability outside of what your singing talents.
In Step 2 we will talk about your wardrobe options that best suit your character.

Previously, Scherzinger was a backing vocalist for the late-1990s rock group Days of the New, and then she was part of reality TV girl group Eden’s Crush. After the disbandment of the group she joined The Pussycat Dolls and became the lead vocalist during the transition to a popular music group. So far, The Pussycat Dolls have released two albums, PCD and Doll Domination, with two supporting tours. More recently, in early 2010, Scherzinger became the winner of the tenth season of Dancing with the Stars.
In 2001, Scherzinger entered as a contestant on the first season of the WB television show Pop stars, where she won the role of lead singer in the resulting all-girl pop group Eden’s Crush. The group’s first single, “Get Over Yourself,” did well on radio and broke into the Billboard Hot 100s Top Ten, but when their label folded soon after, Eden’s Crush shortly followed suit. Scherzinger pushed forward and contributed a track “Breakfast in Bed” to the soundtrack for the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore flick 50 First Dates under the name Nicole Kea.
Nicole had been working on her debt album from 2006 to late 2008. The album was titled in her name. For the album she wrote around 75 – 100 songs and recorded it, which was supposed to be released in 2007 before being pushed to October 16, 2008 and later into 2009.
“Whatever U Like” (featuring T.I.) which was released as the album’s lead single on July 24, 2007 but deemed unsuccessful reaching just 57 in Canada. “Baby Love” was the second single released on September 10, 2007, but the track didn’t chart well in the United States. Internationally the single fared well reaching Top 15 in most countries including the UK, and mainland Europe. The third single, “Supervillain”, and the fourth single, “Puakenikeni” (a type of flower in Hawaii), was released iTunes in November, but failed to chart. In 2009 the album was officially cancelled and shelved.
In 2010 Nicole continue pursuing her solo career and release her debut studio album, Killer Love, on March 18, 2011 through Interscope Records. Killer Love was preceded by the release of the Red One-produced lead single, “Poison” which was quite successful in international territories. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, it respectively peaked at number three and number seven becoming one of Scherzinger’s best charting solo singles. It received mainly positive critical reception. It was followed by second single, “Don’t Hold Your Breath” in March 2011, which debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart. Now Nicole is back to her pop life. Nicole Scherzinger will begin to focus on her US fans and is currently preparing her US edition of her album ‘Killer Love’ and the singer said that she will be revisiting her roots, and give it an “urban” edge. The former Pussycat Dolls singer is planning on adding four or five new songs to the album ahead of its release in the US this summer, including her track with 50 Cent, ‘Right There’.
When she was asked about her marriage, she told her fans: “The guy who marries me is going to be with me forever because I am very traditional.” “There’s no rush. I just want to make sure it is the right time for everything. And I’m really married to my work. It takes up all of my time.” The work Nicole is talking about is the latest projects of her including competing on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. Nicole Scherzinger finds being a solo artist more relaxing, though she admits she felt like the “queen” of former group Pussycat Dolls.
